Assessment results are stored in two different places in the database, one for grades (alpha) and another for scores (numeric).
If results are entered, then the Marking type is changed, then the results will no longer display - because the system is looking for the results in the wrong column. To make the result visible again change the component back to what is was previously.
Method for Changing Marking Type
If the Marking type needs to be changed the results will need to be saved to a spreadsheet, then after the Marking type is changed, re-entered.
The re-entering of results is manual process. However, if there are dozens of assessments the custom text column (alpha-numeric) can be enabled to temporarily store the results, allowing the use of the 'Copy/Paste' buttons at the top of the column.
- Open the Marks book.
- Ensure All Classes are selected in the drop-down at the top of the page.
- Select To Excel > Full Marks Book.
- Save the spreadsheet.
- Change the Course type, or assessment 'Marking Type' to the correct one.
- Re-enter the results in the Marks book.
