This process involves creating a programme (or using an existing one), creating an assessment in the programme, then recording the attendance in the marks book. The suitability of this option will depend on the school's policies and processes, with regards to attendance marking and reporting requirements.
Attendance recorded using assessments does not count toward students total attendance. As the values are recorded as assessment results, not attendance data.
The steps are as follows:
- Go to the Teaching workspace > Timetable > My classes
- Click on the Untimetabled class and choose the option New programme. If there is untimetabled class one can be created by selecting 'New timetabled class' to create one. Refer to the article Creating and managing Untimetabled classes for detailed steps.
- Click Edit Marks book settings and select a Marks-based course type and click Save
- Go to Overview of assessments and click Add assessment
- Under 'Accessible criteria' click the + button enough times to add one criterion for each instance of the class. Edit the name the criterion, with the week number, or date. Set the 'Max' to 1 and click Save
- To note attendance click on the % icon to open the Marks book
- Each class, enter a '1' in the Marks book for each student who attends
