Rules can be assigned to Pastoral Care Types to automatically populate the 'From' and 'Until' time/date when creating the note. If required, the time/date range can be over-ridden at the time of creating the note. Rules are not required for pastoral care types to work.
Please refer to the following article for a list of the elements of a rule: Rules for Pastoral Care Types and Presets

Examples of Pastoral Care Rules
Assign a pastoral care note to the dates from the 1st of February to the 5th of July for the current year:
From: now <= 1d <= 2z
Until: now <= 5d <= 7z
Set for 3 days in advance of the current day/time:
From: now + 3d
Until: now + 3d
Assign the student to a detention the following day from 12:20pm - 13:00pm:
From: now <= 12h <= 20m upcoming
Until: now <= 13h <= 00m upcoming
Assign the student a detention in two days time from 12:30pm - 13:30pm:
From: now +2d <= 12h <= 30m upcoming
Until: now +2d <= 13h <= 30m upcoming
Assign a detention to a specific day depending on what day and time the pastoral care note is entered.
If the time is before 9:30am, set to 12:30pm on the nearest Monday (today or future). Alternatively, if the time is after 9:30am, set to 12:00pm on the next Monday.
This option assigns the detention to a day and time (eg. a "Monday" 12:30pm), it will not set it to a period of time (i.e. from 13:00pm until 14:00pm). Should this be needed, it is recommended to set it to apply for the day only, then set the time using a Preset.
From: now <= 9h <= 30m upcoming <= 12 <=20m Monday
Until: now <= 9h <= 30m upcoming <= 12 <=20m Monday
