This article outlines the different methods that can be used to create and manage classes in SEQTA and things to consider when choosing the best option to manage timetabling.
Please discuss with the school's SEQTA School Relationship Manager before committing to using a particular class type to ensure they will meet the school's Policy and Processes.
The following sections are contained in this article:
- Externally managed classes - Classes synced or exported from a different timetable system (eg. Synergetic).
- Internally managed classes - Classes created directly in SEQTA through the Timetable management page
- Untimetabled classes - Classes created directly through the Teaching workspace
- Calendar classes - Classes created directly through the Teaching workspace
Externally managed classes
Externally managed classes are created in an external timetabling system eg. MAZE, Synergetic. These are either synced directly into SEQTA or exported from the timetabling system and uploaded into Sync UI. For more information refer to the following articles:
Internally managed classes
Internally managed classes are created directly in SEQTA through the 'Administration workspace', under 'Timetable management'. This method is ideal for managing roll classes. For more information refer to the following articles:
Untimetabled classes are created through the 'Teaching workspace' under the 'Calendar' or 'Traditional' tab. For more information refer to the following article: Creating and managing untimetabled classes
Calendar classes are created through the 'Teaching workspace', under the 'Calendar' tab. For more information refer to the following articles:
Calendar classes and attendance visibility
Calendar classes can be used to mark attendance. However, attendance taken using roll classes cannot be seen in standard view in the SIP and does not appear on many of the attendance reports (for example the 'Incomplete roll' report).
