The methods outlined below can be used to share attachments (files and resources) in SEQTA.
At present, it is not possible to attach files to emails that are sent from the Correspondence page; while pasting images or attachments in emails may work in some instances, it is not supported and may cause the emails to fail to send.
Attachments can be shared using the following methods:
- Emailing images through the Correspondence page
- Direqt Messages
- Programmes and Assessments
- Portal Pages
- Pastoral Care Notes
- School Documents
- Correspondence Page (Include links to attachments only)
Emailing images
The pasting of images and other objects into the body of emails is not supported. This includes emails sent through the Correspondence page and via the Pastoral care pane. While in most case it will work, it may cause display issues, high server load. delays in the sending of emails and in some cases batches of emails may fail to send.
The Pastoral care pane does allow files to be attached using the 'Add files' button. However, these are no included in body of the email.
Direqt Messages
Resources can added to Direqt message through the Direqt message back and the Direqt message pop-up available by clicking the Direqt message icon in the top right-hand corner.
Programmes and Assessments
Attachments relating to a particular subject, can be added to the programme overview, lesson outline, assessments, assessment forums and online lessons. This is dependent on the Programme Visibility in SEQTA Learn and SEQTA Engage.
Portal Pages
Attachments can be added to Portal Pages using the 'Classic Editor' or the SEQTA Creator Module 'Resources'.
Pastoral Care Notes
Attachments can be added when creating a Pastoral Care notes. However, these can only be accessed through SEQTA Teach by staff and cannot be viewed by parents or students.
School Documents
Attachments can be added to School Documents which can then be shared with staff, students and guardians.
Correspondence Page (Sharing links to attachments)
It is not possible to attach files to emails sent through Correspondence page. Rather, the attachment needs to be uploaded using one of the below methods and the link included in the Email.
Some browsers may allow the copy-pasting of images or resources directly into the Editor. This is not recommended as the system is not able to embed the images. While in some cases, this may work with no issues, it is not supported.
- Dropbox
- Google docs
- Externally accessible server (i.e. School's Web Server)
Third-Party Email Client (Populating Email Addresses Using SEQTA)
Attachments can be sent using the person's default email program. To save time the email address can be populated using email option in the Marks book or Attendance roll page.
Alternately, the email addresses can be drawn from the Correspondence page in a spreadsheet which can then be used for an email merge.
