Result still appears in the Marks book after being deleted from Turnitin
To resolve this issue delete the result from the Marks book entering a '0' in it's place. It is not possible to leave the field blank after a result has been entered for the student/assessment in Turnitin.
How does SEQTA calculate Turnitin assessment results?
Assessment results may be the 'converted' result depending on the assessment setup.
Results are stored in Turnitin as a percentage which is fine if the assessment is out of 100 (eg. a result of 80% displays as '80'), however, if the assessment is graded, or is not out of 100 SEQTA will need to 'convert' the result before displaying it in the marks book.
The percentage is converted to a grade by applying the cut-offs set in the Programme (e.g. 80% in Turnitin may display as a 'B' in SEQTA). If the assessment in SEQTA has a Max then this will be calculated accordingly (eg. 80% in Turnitin will display as '8' in the Marks book).
What information and functionality is included in the Turnitin integration?
With regards to the assessment information, the integration between Turnitin and SEQTA includes the 'Title' of the assessment and the results (which will be synced from Turnitin into SEQTA). The integration aspect that is particularly helpful is that it allows staff and students to easily access the relevant assessment in Turnitin, without the need to authenticate. It also saves the teacher from needing to enter results into two separate apps.
Why are the student submissions in the Marks book not available in Turnitin?
There may be cases where assessment submissions display next to the student's name in the Marks book. This indicates that the student has submitted their work through SEQTA Learn as an e-submission or a WISP assessment. Submissions submitted using these methods are not available in Turnitin. For more detailed information on this, please read the above sections 'Displaying individual assessment submissions' and 'Enabling e-submissions and Turnitin submissions for one assessment'.
How is the due date set for Turnitin assessments?
The due date for the assessment in Turnitin will initially be set to one week from the current date. It can then be changed through the settings tab in Turnitin.
Changes to the due date in SEQTA will not affect the due date in Turnitin, or vice versa. This allows teachers to set the due date as they need without affecting the other classes in the Programme share.
Can I enabling e-submissions and Turnitin submissions for one assessment?
Yes, SEQTA allows 'e-submissions' and 'Turnitin submissions' to be enabled for the one assessment. E-submissions and Turnitin submissions are different from and work independent of each other. Enabling both options for one assessment is not recommended, as it allows students to submit work on two different platforms (SEQTA and Turnitin).
An indicator that both options are selected is where student submissions display next to the student/assessment in the Marks book (these are e-submissions), and the Turnitin button appears at the top of the column (to access the Turnitin submission).
